Astbury Mere Country Park became Cheshire’s first and only Eco Centre in 2014.
The award from the Keep Britain Tidy group acknowledged the Park’s ongoing commitment to eco issues. Assessment focused on seven key areas:
- Eco-Committee
- Environmental Review
- Action Plan and Project Work
- Eco-Code
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Learning Experiences
- Community
The park has ongoing work in three areas: Energy, Biodiversity and Healthy Living.
With over 200,000 visitors each year and an established network within the community the park is well placed to help further sustainability issues within the town.
