An international programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), Eco-Schools aims to empower students to be the change our sustainable world needs by engaging them in fun, action-orientated learning.

Each school follows a seven step change process and empowers their young people to lead processes and actions wherever they can.

Over time and through commitment to the Eco-Schools seven step process, improvements will be seen in both the learning outcomes, attitude and behavior of students and the local community and ultimately the local environment. Evidence of success in these areas will eventually lead to a school being awarded ‘The Green Flag’. source

Congleton Eco schools

Congleton & District Eco Cluster has been active for several years, comprising all 16 schools.

Eco co ordinators, head teachers and green governors meet approx 5 times a year to discuss eco topics and share best practice to help all members become more sustainable. Supported by CSG, Congleton Inclosure Trust, the William Dean Trust and Congleton Partnership.

As a group we have showed our eco work to the public at the Cheshire Show (2011 and 2012), at the Eco zone at Parklive, Congleton Park 2013 and in the Back to back garden project 2014.

We have 13 schools with Green Flags, three schools at silver (W. Well, EBA, CHS) working towards their Green Flag. Six schools have achieved or renewed their green flags so far in 2014, two more to renew before Christmas!
